Big Mountain Ski Resort
Whitefish, Montana
Whitefish Resort is Northwest Montana's winter playground!
Winter Fun at Whitefish Mountain Resort
Big Mountain Ski Resort is a favorite among Montana ski resorts. Although still fondly called "Big Mountain" by those in the area, the company officially changed their name in 2008 to Whitefish Mountain Resort.
This recreation area has been in operation over 60 years, and offers some of the best skiing in northwestern Montana.
It is conveniently located just outside the small, quaint town of Whitefish.
Big Mountain Ski Resort offers nearly 100 marked runs across 3000 acres of terrain, with a nice mix of runs for all levels.
With a summit elevation of nearly 7000 feet, it also sports an enchanting array of snow ghosts across much of the area, as well as excellent views of nearby Glacier National Park.
Like most Montana ski resorts, Whitefish features fairly low-cost lift ticket prices and short lift lines.
The Big Mountain Snow Bus
Ride up to Big Mountain free from Whitefish! The Snow Bus is free transportation to and from the resort. It operates daily throughout the season, and has several pickup points in town.
Kids Center and Daycare
The Kids Center and Daycare is a convenient, on-site service that offers child care, ski instruction, and one-stop shopping for lessons, tickets, and ski gear rentals.
Ski & Snowboard School
The Ski & Snowboard School offers individual, group, and private lessons for all ages.
Full Moon Ski Nights
In addition to regular night skiing, you can enjoy special Moonlight Dine & Ski nights during both of the full moon nights each month. Ride the chair lift to the Summit for fine dining, then ski down (non-skiers can ride the lift back down).
Lodging & Dining
Big Mountain Ski Resort offers a great selection of onsite lodging and dining accommodations. Additional fine dining and lodging is available in Whitefish - just a short 8 miles away!
Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Enjoy both of these sports on all areas of the mountain.
Snowmobiling
Single and double rider snowmobile tours include a brief safety training lesson and protective helmet.
Montana Dog Sledding
Dog Sled Adventures is a local company offering dog sled tours both on and off the mountain.
