Wayfarers State Park
Flathead Lake Recreational Area
Nestled among trees and rock cliffs along beautiful Flathead Lake, Wayfarers State Park is a real beauty – gorgeous sunsets, great mountain views, and plenty of opportunity for camping, hiking, boating, and swimming.
The park is situated on 67 acres, and includes 30 camp sites, a boat launch, swimming area, picnic areas, and flush toilets.
This classy mountain getaway is located just south of Bigfork, and is a favorite among locals.
This is a Montana State Park, managed by the state Fish, Wildlife & Parks service.
Day use is free to Montana residents, and is just $5.00 for non-residents. Camping is $15.00 per night.
Be sure to get here early in the summer months as the campground fills up on the weekends. Despite its popularity, many of the campsites offer privacy due to the trees and foliage in the park.
The rocky cliffs that line a portion of the park along Flathead Lake are an excellent place to relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets over the lake, or watch the boats return. The cliffs are a short, easy hike from the campsites, and even during the busy summer season, you’re likely to have this area mostly to yourself.
This campground has several beautiful picnic areas with tables and grills in a wooded area near the water. A swimming area with limited beach is located along the bay that runs between Bigfork and the park.
Flathead Lake is a premier boating destination, and Wayfarers State Park has a great boat launch that is easily accessible.
